Hello, Hola, Salut, Hallo, Ciao, Nǐ hǎo, Kon’nichiwa, Привет!, Namaste, Ola, Jambo, Kamusta, أهلا,I cherish the privilege of living during this moment in our history when Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) are at the forefront of our political, social and corporate lives. With this long overdue attention on why D&I matters to our successful future, NAMIC is in a unique position to leverage our collective knowledge and experience to effectively contribute to the conversation. At the local level, the onus is on us to engage each other in learning all that makes us unique and similar at the same time.
Our chapter owes much respect and gratitude to our past amazing leaders (Keesha Boyd, Andrea Agnew, Barbara Gee, Omar Bowers, Ajamu Johnson, Lea Satterfield, Bret Perkins to name a few) so it is with humbled excitement that I welcome my role as President. I promise to bring my best self at all times.
Our motto this year is “You want to be in”... please accept it as a personal invitation to the knowledge and resources we offer you. Our 2013 leadership family is passionate and committed to the following goals:
1. Deliver top notch events worthy of your time and repeat attendance – Join us on March 4th at the Comcast Center at 5:30p for a conversation with Dr. Nicol Turner-Lee, President & CEO of NAMIC. Also coming up are our Speed Mentoring event (April 4th), a revamped Paragon Awards this summer and a recognition of our Executive Leadership Development Program (ELDP) graduates.
2. Increase representation from the broadcast, film, print and digital media sectors in our chapter. We are a unique platform for cross-sector networking and collaboration. Let’s take advantage of it.
3. Improve our touch points with you so you are always in the ‘know’ on what’s happening with us and the industry. Check out our new newsletter’s ‘Did You Miss It?’ section for recap and pictures of the last event, ‘Faces of NAMIC Philly’ to meet our members or articles from guest contributors.
My ultimate goal is to have the faces of NAMIC Philadelphia reflect those of the US. Regardless of your hue, accent, cultural heritage, life story, job level…we welcome your presence at our events, your feedback on our operations and look forward to adding you to the fabric of our chapter. For all these reasons and more, I can tell you in all sincerity: “You want to be in” with NAMIC Philadelphia.
Have the best of days,
Yasmine Ndassa, Ph.D.
President, NAMIC Philadelphia
Director, Organizational Effectiveness & HR Analytics, Comcast Cable
